Jr Pee Wees are forming fast!!

For the first time ever, the Bronx Rebels Jr Pee Wees have arrived!!!  Their HC is Thomas Wilder, father of famed Rebel Running Back Malik Wilder who will be suiting up for Mount St. Michael this fall. Coach Wilder has the kids in drills with helmets, and now they are about to hit!! SouthWestern Conneticut Grizzlies on Deck vs Elite

The second test for the Elite will be this week, as the SWC Grizzlies enter the confines of Gridiron Elite Stadium. Game time 7:30. This will be again a scrimmage format, followed by a half of an actual game. “This will be their first taste of college football” said Coach Baxter. We have no film of the Grizzlies, but expect a wide open football game. As for us, we will unleash our new offense for the first time, with Dexter Bello @ QB.  Newcomer Kaliph Daley will also see significant action this weekend, as well as Yinessa Jackson as this will be an opportunity to unseat Bello @ the Quarterback position. As for the defense, we will see the same look as we had against the Harlem Gators.

The Yankee Collegiate Football Conference is a division of the New England Football League. The purpose of the YCFC is to give young men the opportunity to play collegiate football while attending schools that may or may not have an active college team. Players may in fact be scouted from this league for college ball at all levels, as scouts and those in the know regarding football will have eyes on all of the teams in this league.

Our team, the NorthEast Elite, is being allowed to participate because of the reputation we have for developing talent and having them play on the next level.  “We have a significant opportunity for our players to be looked at, and have their lives change, all because they took the time to be serious about something in their lives. I would love to see someone be picked up and told they can go to college, because of what they have done here”, said Coach Baxter.

The Elite open their season September 18th vs Eastern Connecticut State @ Gridiron Elite Stadium. Kickoff will be @ 7pm

HOMEGOING ANNOUNCEMENT

The Rebels have lost a member of our family. Coach Mike Blake’s father, The Reverend Jesse Blake, has passed.  The Blake family has announced the services  as follows -  The wake will take place Thursday afternoon August 26th from 4pm to 7pm @ The New Saint John Church – 2409 Lorillard Place,  Bronx NY.  The funeral will take place Friday August 27th, @ 10AM, in the same location.

Pee Wees take stage in AYO Showcase

The 2009 Gridiron Elite Super Bowl Champions  take on the Rockaway Ravens in the first ever AYO Officials showcase.

“We have invited many coaches from high schools all over the city to come watch the stars of tomorrow” said Justice Johnson, President of the AYO officials, and the PSAL Assigning Referee. Mr. Johnson is responsible for assigning all of the officials for all citywide high school games, and in three youth leagues, including the Gridiron Elite.

The Rebels have a new look backfield, and experience at the Quarterback position, as Shaun Tafe returns to lead the Rebels in 2010.

The game will take place @ Jamaica High School @ noon.

Pee Wees (Age 11  – 13) – Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:30pm – 8:30 pm, Saturdays 10:00am – 1:30pm.

Intermediates (Age 14 – 16) – Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:30pm – 8:30 pm, Saturdays 10:00am – 1:30pm.

BNEFF, VENOMWEAR MAKE A DONATION TO THE BRONX REBELS

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the BNEFF and VenomWear presented the Bronx Rebels a Youth Football Organization that work very hard to develop student athletes, 50 practice jerseys. “This is the least we can do to help such a wonderful youth organization.” said President of the BNEFF Mr..Dexter Girven. “We are looking forward to working with Coach Ray Baxter and the Rebels in the future.” “The Rebels are very appreciative to the BNEFF and venomwear.”said  Coach Baxter.” “we are looking forward to supporting the BNEFF and venomwear in the future as well.”
