Championship Coach “JT” Tisdale, fell ill recently, and was reported to have visited the emergency room @ Montifiore Hospital.

Tisdale is now home resting comfortably. He won’t be back for a while, as he recovers from his ordeal. Take the time to say hello and wish Coach JT well on this blog!!!!

The Gridiron Elite Adult Football Tournament

Several years ago, the Rebels held several adult game fundraisers, as a way to showcase semi-professional football in the New York area, and raise money for our program. With the help and partnership of the New York Bandits, an idea was born, to create a tournament, not only as a way to fundraise, but to showcase talent in the NY area. Thus, the Gridiron Elite Football Tournament was born. The tournament has grown in only two years, not only in participation, but in sites as well. The storied Kings Bay Organization, are also now part of the Tournament, hosting at their site, and raising money for their youth program. Next season, the youth version of the Tournament will begin. Later this season, The Gridiron Elite Youth Football League expands to four divisions, including Jr. Pee Wees and a Super Prep, 16 to 18 yr old division. The league will also expand in regional play, as Deleware, Philadelphia, and Maryland will enter teams into the League in several divisions. It’s really getting interesting.             

Practice Schedule for this Week

All Rebel teams will continue with the combined conditioning practices this week.  Tuesday and Thursday evenings @ 7pm, and Saturday afternoon @ 1pm. Parents, make sure your child checks in with our registration team to get information on forms and fees. Very soon we will not allow children to practice without registration forms completed and turned in. Also, helmets can be purchased for the Jr. Pee Wee and Pee Wee teams online @ discountyouthfootball.com – click New York State and find our program name, then find our name, click on our name and shop away. There are significant discounts to be had on the site. Everything from helmets, shoulder pads, 7 pc pad sets, and other pertinent items can be purchased online, and without tax!!!        

The Search Has Ended – Coach Downer named Defensive Coordianator

The search for a new DC did not take long, as the Rebels have named Coach Dwight Downer Defensive Coordinator for the Super Prep Program.

Coach Downer joined the Rebel staff last season, and was in charge of the Special Teams. He comes from a football background, having played for the storied Coach Joe Prezioso of DeWitt Clinton High School, where he was a starting Defensive Back. 

Coach Ron Reid, who joined the Rebel program this season as a coach for the Pee Wee division has also been tapped to move up and join the Prep Staff as an assistant coach. Reid actually played Rebel football between 1991 and 1993 under Coach Baxter.
