The Bronx Kings, who the Rebels faced in two seven on seven contests earlier this summer, will now enter the confines of our field to face the Pee Wees and Super Prep teams. AND THIS GAME WILL NOT BE CANCELED DUE TO RAIN.

Big #77 Sidelined – Perhaps for the Season

Although he had an impressive start, young Jose Cabal, # 77 for  the Bronx Rebels, will be sidelined for the season with a physical ailment.

Coach Baxter, Coach Blake, Coach Mike, Coach O’Neal, Coach Rob, players, and parents wish Jose well. “We will miss him on the field, but will be presented his Game Jersey before Saturday night’s season opener”, says Coach Baxter.

Jose’s parents have already been a great help to the organization, and and hopeful the team does well this season. Jose will have another check-up later this year, and if cleared, he may be back for the play-off run in November.

CHAMPS TAKE A SEAT FOR 2009

The Rebels have decided not to field an Intermediate team this season. Due to last minute turn out and lack of equipment for those that are seeking to play, the Rebels have a plan to field the Intermediate team again in 2010.

“We will begin with participation in the East Coast Football League Spring season with those intermediates that sign up now, and the pee wees that will move up” said Coach Baxter, Exec Director of the program. “At that time, there will be a solid nucleus of kids on that team, and we can proceed to have them play in the Elite in 2010.”

It is a bit of a reminder of Muhammad Ali, who never lost his heavyweight crown in the ring, and came back to reclaim the title two years later. It will not take two years, but there will not be a defending champion in the Elite in 2009. But look out  for 2010. The team that wins the division, will be on the Rebels radar from December 2009, until the Fall season begins.  The countdown has begun
